
Biography
Praised for her "gorgeous and flexible" voice (Arts Knoxville), soprano Madison Mackey is a young artist with a passion for creating emotional sound and complete commitment to character. A recent Master's in Music graduate from the University of Tennessee, Madison was featured in roles such as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflote, and Adele in Die Fledermaus with the University of Tennessee Opera Theater. During her master's studies, she was also a member of the Knoxville Opera Studio where she received coachings and acting classes, covered Valencienne in their production of the Merry Widow, and sang in their opera choruses. While at University of Tennessee she also recieved seven scholarships, fellowships and awards, including the Mary Costa Scholarship. Madison is now based in Orlando Florida where she sings and teaches locally.

Madison received her Bachelor's in Music at Boston University. During her studies she performed in scenes programs every semester which included scene's from Carmen as Frasquita, Così fan tutti as Fiordiligi, and Orpheus in the Underworld as Eurydice. She received the Boston University Voice Departmental Award, given to one graduating undergraduate student each year for excellence in artistry, education, and collaboration. In 2019, Madison sang in a BU Masterclass there with Andrew Garland. During these years, Madison also was accepted to and attended the CoOperative Program in Princeton New Jersey and OperaWorks in Northridge California.

Madison was born and raised in Houston Texas and began her operatic studies with the Houston Grand Opera High School Voice Studio (now the Bauer Family High School Voice Studio.) There her love for the artform blossomed as she studied at the Wortham Center, participated in masterclasses, attended opera rehearsals, and sang in recitals.

Madison is a student of Dr. Kimberly Roberts, studied acting under James Marvel, and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda.
